Marcellinara is a comune and town located in the province of Catanzaro within the Calabria region of southern Italy. It serves as a small village situated in a geographically distinct area known as an isthmus.
The town is positioned in the middle of one of the narrowest strips of land in Italy, which is also considered one of the narrowest in Europe. This location sits between the Ionian Sea to the east and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west, with a distance of only 40 km separating the two bodies of water.
