Gerace

Italy

Gerace is a town and comune located in the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria within the Calabria region of southern Italy. Situated approximately 10 kilometres inland from Locri, the town is positioned atop a 500-metre vertical rock. From this elevated vantage point, both the nearby sea and the town of Locri are visible.

The geological foundation of the town consists of a hill formed from conglomerates of sea fossils dating back 60 million years. Due to its historical and aesthetic significance, Gerace is recognized as one of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia," which translates to some of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
