Cropani is a comune and town situated in the province of Catanzaro within the Calabria region of southern Italy. The municipality is positioned approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) from the sea and 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) from the Sila mountains. Its municipal territory includes two distinct frazioni, known as Cropani Marina and Cuturella di Cropani.
The town is noted for its historical connection to religious tradition. According to local lore, a ship transporting the relics of Mark the Evangelist from Alexandria to Venice sought refuge on the coasts of Cropani in 831 AD. In an act of gratitude, the captain gifted the city a relic, which remains preserved today in the town's Romanesque Collegiate.
