Maschito is a town and comune located in the province of Potenza within the Basilicata region of southern Italy. It is situated in an area known as Vulture.
The settlement is notable for its history of repopulation, which occurred following the occupation of Albania by the Ottoman Empire. Like other towns in the Vulture area, Maschito was settled by Albanian refugees during this period.
