Lauria is a town and comune located in the province of Potenza within the Basilicata region of southern Italy. It is situated near the borders of Calabria.
The settlement is characterized as a walled, medieval town built on the steep side of a hill. In addition to this elevated portion, the municipal territory includes an area situated in the plain below.
