Pacentro is a comune located in the province of L'Aquila within the Abruzzo region of central Italy. The municipality has a population of 1,279 inhabitants and is situated approximately 170 kilometres (110 mi) east of Rome, several kilometers from the city of Sulmona.
The village is recognized as a well-preserved historic medieval settlement. Due to its architectural integrity and historical significance, it has been designated as one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia, which identifies it as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
