Neskaupstaður is a town located on the fjord Norðfjörður on the eastern side of Iceland, situated against the Norwegian Sea. It serves as part of the municipality of Fjarðabyggð and currently holds a population of 1,481 residents as of 2016.
The town is recognized as the second largest in the Eastern Region. Historically, it was originally built on a farm known as "Nes," which was settled by Egill Rauði.
