Makran, also referred to as Mecran or Mokrān, is a semi-desert coastal region situated along the coast of the Gulf of Oman. The area serves as a geographical strip that spans across two countries, extending from the Sonmiani Bay in the Balochistan province of Pakistan in the west to the southern part of the Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran in the east.
The region is characterized by its coastal geography and is bisected by the modern political boundary between Pakistan and Iran. Its eastern reaches extend toward the northwest of Karachi, while its western boundaries reach into the fringes of the Bashkardia/Bāšgerd region.
