Maragheh is a city located in the Central District of Maragheh County within the East Azerbaijan province of Iran. It serves as the administrative capital for both the county and the district.
The city is situated on the bank of the Sufi Chay river. Geographically, it is positioned approximately 130 kilometres (81 mi) from Tabriz, which is the largest city in northwestern Iran.
