Isfahan is a city located in the Central District of Isfahan County within the Isfahan Province of Iran. Situated approximately 440 kilometres south of the capital city of Tehran, it serves as the administrative seat for the province, county, and district.
The city is the third-most populous urban center in Iran, following Tehran and Mashhad. It currently has a population of approximately 2,238,000 residents and constitutes the second-largest metropolitan area in the country.
