Shayban (also referred to as Shiban or Siban) was a prince of the early Golden Horde, which served as a significant division of the Mongol Empire. He was a grandson of Genghis Khan and the fifth son of Jochi. As a younger brother of Batu Khan, who founded the Golden Horde, Shayban held a prominent position within the imperial lineage.
The descendants of Shayban became known as the Shaybanids. This dynasty rose to historical importance approximately two centuries after his life, establishing a significant legacy within the region's political history.
