Sonqor is a city located in the Central District of Sonqor County within the Kermanshah province of Iran. It serves as the administrative capital for both the county and the district. Geographically, the city is situated in the Zagros Mountains, positioned between the modern cities of Kangavar and Sanandaj.
The city is characterized by its location across two distinct valleys: Gavehrud and Shajarud. It is located approximately 90 kilometers from Kermanshah, which serves as the provincial capital.
