Metpally is a town and Revenue Division located in the Jagtial district of the Indian state of Telangana. It serves as the third largest town within the district and is situated approximately 33 km from the district headquarters, Jagtial.
The town is positioned 222 km from the state capital, Hyderabad, 67 km from Nizamabad, and 80 km from Karimnagar. Historically, the area was ruled by various dynasties, including the Sathavahanas and the Kakatiyas. The Kakatiyas are notably associated with the construction of the Chennakesava temple in the region.
