Tanakpur is a city and municipal board located in the Champawat district of Uttarakhand state, India. It is situated near the town of Champawat in the northern part of the country.
The city is positioned in the foothills of the Kumaon Himalayas. It is notably recognized as the gateway to the Kumaon Himalayas and serves as the primary access point for the Purnagiri Temple.
