Roorkee

Roorkee, formerly known by the anglicized name Rurki, is a city and municipal corporation located in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand, India. It is situated approximately 31 km (19 mi) from the district headquarters of Haridwar.

The city is characterized by its flat terrain situated under the Sivalik Hills of the Himalayas. Its most dominant geographical feature is the Ganges Canal, which flows through the middle of the city in a north–south direction.
