Simdega is a city located in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It serves as the administrative headquarters for both the Simdega district and its corresponding subdivision.
The city sits at an elevation of approximately 418 metres (1,371 feet) above sea level and covers a total area of 3,750 km2 (1,450 sq mi). It is bordered by Gumla to the north, Ranchi and West Singhbhum to the east, Jashpur Nagar and Chhattisgarh to the west, and Rourkela, Odisha, to the south.
Simdega is accessible via national highways connecting it to Rourkela and Ranchi. The nearest railway station serving the area is Bano railway station.
