Jamshedpur, also known as Tatanagar, is a major industrial city located in eastern India. It serves as the largest city in the state of Jharkhand and is situated at the confluence of the Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers, surrounded by the Dalma Hills.

The city has a population of 629,658 within its limits and approximately 1.3 million people in the wider metropolitan area. It ranks as the third largest metropolitan area in the region, the 36th largest urban area in India, and the 72nd most populous city in the country.
