Chandrapura is a census town located in the Chandrapura community development block within the Bermo subdivision of Jharkhand, India. It is situated on the northern banks of the Damodar River in the Bokaro district.
The town is primarily known for hosting the Chandrapura Thermal Power Station, which is a thermal-coal based power generation unit operated by the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). Additionally, it is home to De Nobili school, an institution established by Roberto de Nobili. The school is one of 16 educational facilities supported by the DVC, an Indian state-owned corporation.
