Kondagaon is a municipality located in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. It serves as the headquarters of the Kondagaon district, which was established as the 27th district of the state on January 24, 2012, following its separation from the Bastar district. The city is situated approximately 70 kilometers from Jagdalpur and ranks as the third largest city within the Bastar division.
The area is widely recognized for its diverse indigenous crafts, earning it the nickname "Shilp sheher" of Chhattisgarh. It is particularly renowned for its bell metal craft, which utilizes a unique blend of copper and tin. The region is also known for various other art forms native to the tribal populations of Bastar.
