Sitapur is a city and municipal board located in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated approximately 90 kilometres north of Lucknow, which serves as the state capital.
The traditional origin of the name Sitapur is attributed to King Vikramāditya, who is said to have named the location after Lord Ram's wife, Sita.
