Noida, short for New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, is a city located in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated within the floodplain region between the Yamuna and Hindon Rivers and serves as an integral part of the National Capital Region (NCR).
Established in 1976, Noida was designed under a planning strategy intended to decentralize growth from Delhi. It is regarded as one of the most systematically planned cities in India. The broader Gautam Buddha Nagar district, which includes Noida and Greater Noida, contributes over 10% to the Uttar Pradesh Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), a figure more than 2.5 times that of the state capital district of Lucknow.
