Mawana is a city located in the Meerut district of the Uttar Pradesh state in India. It is situated approximately 26 km away from the district headquarters, Meerut.
The name of the city is derived from the word "Muhana," which translates to gateway. Historically, it is considered to be the Muhana of the Hastinapur kingdom. The town of Hastinapur, which dates back to the Mahabharata period, is located about 9 km from the center of Mawana.
