Mahoba is a city located in the Mahoba District of Uttar Pradesh, India. Situated within the Bundelkhand region, it serves as a historical site notable for its proximity to several other significant locations, including Khajuraho, Lavkushnagar, Kulpahar, Charkhari, Kalinjar, Orchha, and Jhansi.
The city is historically recognized as the capital of the Chandela dynasty. It features prominent architectural and religious landmarks, most notably a ninth-century granite Sun temple constructed in the Pratihara style. Additionally, Mahoba is known for the presence of 24 rock-cut Jain tirthankara images located on Gokhar hill.
