Jhansi

Jhansi is a historic city located in the extreme south of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Situated in the Bundelkhand region, it serves as the administrative headquarters for both the Jhansi district and the Jhansi division. The city was formerly known as Balwant Nagar.

Geographically, Jhansi lies on the banks of the Pahuj River at an average elevation of 285 meters (935 ft). It is positioned near the rivers Pahuj and Betwa and is often referred to as the Gateway to Bundelkhand. The city is located approximately 471 kilometers from New Delhi, 109 kilometers from Gwalior, 240 kilometers from Kanpur, and 320 kilometers from Lucknow.
