Ghazipur is a city located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Ghazipur district, which is one of the four districts comprising the Varanasi division.
Situated on the Ganges (Ganga) River near the border with Bihar state in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the city is positioned approximately 40 miles (65 km) northeast of Varanasi. It is also known by the name Lahuri Kashi.
The city constitutes one of the seven distinct tehsils, or subdivisions, within the Ghazipur district.
