Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri is a town located in the Agra District of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated approximately 35.7 kilometres (22.2 mi) from the district headquarters of Agra.

The site was founded as the capital of the Mughal Empire in 1571 by Emperor Akbar. It served as the imperial capital until 1585, at which point Akbar abandoned the city to pursue a campaign in Punjab. The location was completely abandoned by 1610.
