Azamgarh is a city located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves as the headquarters for the Azamgarh division, which encompasses the districts of Ballia, Mau, and Azamgarh.
The city is situated on the bank of the Tamsa River, also known as the Tons. Geographically, it is positioned 268 km (167 mi) east of Lucknow, the state capital, and approximately 809 km from the national capital, Delhi.
