Sagar, formerly known as Saugor, is a city and municipal corporation located in central India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the Sagar district within the state of Madhya Pradesh. The city is currently ranked as the sixth-largest city in the state by population.
Geographically, the city is situated on a spur of the Vindhya Range at an elevation of approximately 1,758 feet (536 meters) above sea level. It is located roughly 182 kilometres (113 miles) northeast of Bhopal, which is the state capital of Madhya Pradesh.
