Morar is a small village located on the west coast of The Rough Bounds of Scotland. It is situated approximately three miles south of Mallaig. While the name Morar refers specifically to the village, it is also applied to the northern part of the peninsula where the village is located, although North Morar is the more common designation for that area.
The coastline of this region forms a component of the Morar, Moidart and Ardnamurchan National Scenic Area. This is one of 40 designated areas in Scotland identified for their exceptional scenery. These protections are established to preserve the landscape by restricting certain types of development within the boundaries.
