Mandla is a city and municipality located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for the district and is situated within a loop of the Narmada River, which surrounds the city on three sides. Between Mandla and Ramnagar, the river flows through a deep bed that remains unbroken by rocks for approximately 15 miles.
The city holds historical significance as a former capital of the Gondwana Kingdom, which constructed a fort and a palace that currently remain in ruins. The Narmada River is a site of worship in the area, and numerous ghats have been built along its banks.
