Manasa is a Hindu goddess associated with snakes and serpents. She is primarily worshipped across various regions of India, including Bihar, Odisha, Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Assam, and other parts of northeastern India.
Devotees typically worship Manasa for the prevention and cure of snakebites, as well as for fertility and prosperity. In Hindu mythology, she is identified as the daughter of the sage Kashyapa, the sister of Vasuki (the king of Nāgas), and the wife of the sage Jaratkaru. She is also recognized as the mother of the sage Astika.
