Maheshwar

Maheshwar is a town situated in the Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, located in central India. It lies on the northern bank of the Narmada River and is positioned along State Highway-38, approximately 13.5 km east of National Highway 3 and 91 km from Indore, the state's commercial capital.

Historically, the town served as the kingdom of Kartavirya Arjuna, a Heheya king. In later centuries, it functioned as the capital of Malwa during the Maratha Holkar reign until January 6, 1818, when Malhar Rao Holkar III relocated the capital to Indore.
