Jaora is a city and municipality located in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Situated within the Malwa region, it lies geographically between the cities of Ratlam and Mandsaur.
Historically, Jaora served as the capital of the Jaora princely state prior to Indian independence. The city is a site of religious significance for multiple faiths; it hosts the shrine of Hussain Tekri, which attracts thousands of international visitors during the Mourning of Muharram. Additionally, it is recognized by Jains as a location where the ascetic Rajendrasuri practiced tapasya.
