Samastipur is a city and Municipal Corporation located in the state of Bihar, India. It serves as the headquarters for the Samastipur district and falls under the Darbhanga division.
The city is situated along the Burhi Gandak River. It is also home to the Samastipur Junction railway station, which ranks as one of the busiest stations in North Bihar following Patna and Katihar. Additionally, it serves as one of the five railway divisions of the East Central Railway (ECR) based in Hajipur.
