Sahibganj

Sahebganj, originally known as Kajrotia, is a scenic town and port city located in the northeast of Jharkhand state, India. It serves as the headquarters for the Sahibganj district, the Sahibganj subdivision, and the Sahibganj municipality. The town is situated on the banks of the Ganges River.

The district was formed on May 17th when the Rajmahal and Pakur subdivisions were carved out of the old Santal Pargana district. This date is officially recognized as the Foundation Day of the Sahibganj District.
