Muzaffarpur is a city located in the Indian state of Bihar. It is situated on the banks of the Burhi Gandak River within the Tirhut division.
The city serves as the administrative headquarters for both the Muzaffarpur district and the Tirhut division. As the fourth most populous city in Bihar, it is frequently referred to as the Capital of North Bihar.
