Madhepura is a municipality located in the Madhepura district of the Indian state of Bihar. Situated at the center of the Kosi ravine, the city's name originated from "Madhyapura," which translates to a place centrally situated. Over time, this name was transformed into its current form, Madhepura.
The municipality is bordered by several districts: Araria and Supaul to the north, Khagaria and Bhagalpur to the south, Purnia to the east, and Saharsa to the west. A notable landmark within the district is Baba Singheshwar Sthan, a famous Shiva temple and pilgrimage site that attracts many devotees, particularly during the month of Shravan.
