Dighwara is a town and Nagar Panchayat located in the Saran district of Bihar, India. Situated on the banks of the Ganges River, the town's name is believed to derive from "Dirgh-dwar," which translates literally to "large gate." This etymology stems from local claims that Dighwara serves as the entrance to the mythological city of King Daksha.
Historically, Dighwara was a Feudal Estate ruled by the Raghuvanshis during the period of British Rule. In terms of modern infrastructure, plans have been established for the construction of a road bridge over the Ganges River connecting Dighwara to Danapur.
