Dhaka, formerly known as Dacca, is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. Located on the Ganges Delta, the city is bounded by the Buriganga, Turag, Dhaleshwari, and Shitalakshya rivers. It serves as a major cultural, economic, and scientific hub for Eastern South Asia.

The city is notable for its extreme population density, holding the title of the most densely populated built-up urban area in the world with an estimated population of 36.6 million. Additionally, Dhaka is recognized as the largest Bengali-speaking city globally and ranks fourth in South Asia regarding GDP.
