Buxar is a nagar parishad city located in the state of Bihar, India. It serves as the administrative headquarters for both the Buxar district and the community development block of Buxar.
The city shares borders with the Balia and Ghazipur districts of Uttar Pradesh. The Buxar community development block also encompasses the census town of Sarimpur and 132 rural villages.
