Aizawl, formerly known as Aijal, is the capital and most populous city of the Indian state of Mizoram. It serves as a major urban center in the region and ranks as the third largest city in northeast India.
The city is situated atop a series of ridges at an average elevation of approximately 1,132 metres above sea level. As of 2024, Aizawl has an estimated population of 415,000 people.
