Gyalshing is a city located in the Gyalshing district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the district and is situated at an altitude of approximately 6,500 feet (1,900 m). The town is characterized by a temperate climate throughout most of the year, though snow occasionally falls in the surrounding vicinity.
The region has a large Nepali population, with Nepali serving as the predominant language. Gyalshing is connected to the state capital, Gangtok, by a metalled road. It also maintains transportation links to the West Bengal towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong via Jorethang, while the town of Pelling is located a few kilometers to the north.
