Tarakeswar is a municipality and sacred city located in the Hooghly district of the Indian state of West Bengal. Situated approximately 58 kilometres (36 miles) from the state capital, Kolkata, it serves as a significant religious site within the region.
The city is known as "Baba Dham" or "The city of Shiva" and is recognized as a major holy place and pilgrimage destination for the Lord Shiva sect. It remains one of the primary tourist and religious landmarks in both West Bengal and India.
