Siliguri, also known as Shiliguri, is a major tier-II city located in the Indian state of West Bengal. It spans areas within both the Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts and serves as a significant urban center in the region.
Situated on the banks of the Mahananda River in the foothills of the Himalayas, the city is frequently referred to as the "Gateway of Northeast India." It forms a twin city with its neighbor, Jalpaiguri. Siliguri ranks as the third largest urban agglomeration in West Bengal, following Kolkata and Asansol.
