Sainthia is a city and municipality located in the Suri Sadar subdivision of the Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Situated on the banks of the Mayurakshi River, it has served as a major human settlement for a significant period. The city covers an area of 10 km2 and was recorded with a population of 44,601 in 2011.
Known as the business city of the Birbhum district, Sainthia is the fourth most populous city in the district and ranks as the 95th most populous city in West Bengal. It falls under the jurisdiction of the Sainthia police station. The city is notably famous for the Nandikeshwari Temple, which is recognized as one of the Shakta pithas in the Indian subcontinent.
