Kalimpong is a town and the headquarters of the Kalimpong district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Situated at an average elevation of 1,250 metres (4,101 ft), it serves as a significant administrative center within the region.
The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, which is a semi-autonomous governing body located within West Bengal. Additionally, the Indian Army's 27 Mountain Division is stationed on the outskirts of the city.
