Jalpaiguri is a city located in the Indian state of West Bengal. It serves as the headquarters for both the Jalpaiguri district and the Jalpaiguri division, which encompasses the five districts of North Bengal. The city is situated on the foothills of the Himalayas along the banks of the Teesta and Karala rivers.
The city hosts several notable institutions, including the circuit bench of the Calcutta High Court, the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, and the second campus of the University of North Bengal. It is also home to the Biswa Bangla Krirangan, also known as the Jalpaiguri Sports Village.
Jalpaiguri is located approximately 35 km south of its twin city, Siliguri. The merging of these two cities establishes them as the largest metropolis in the region.
