Haldia is an industrial port city located in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal, India. It is situated approximately 124 km (77 mi) southwest of Kolkata, near the mouth of the Hooghly River, which is a distributary of the Ganges. The Haldia Township is bordered by the Haldi River, an offshoot of the Ganges.
The city serves as a major trade port for Kolkata and functions as a significant center for petrochemical businesses. It features a large industrial belt and a primary sea port that facilitate regional commerce and industrial activity.
