Chandrakona is a municipality and town located in the Ghatal subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India. Geographically, the city is situated between the locations of Ghatal and Garhbeta.
Historically, Chandraketu is recognized as the founder of the kingdom of Chandrakona. The area appears in historical records such as the 16th-century Mughal document Ain-E-Akbari, where it was referred to by the name ‘Mana’.
