Basirhat City

Basirhat is a city located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, India. It serves as the headquarters of the Basirhat subdivision and holds the distinction of being the largest city in the eastern portion of the North 24 Parganas district.

Established on April 1, 1869, Basirhat is recognized as one of the oldest municipal boards in the Bengal Province. The city is notably famous for its Durga Puja celebrations, which are organized by more than 100 different committees.
